The St. Pete/Clearwater area is about to get some prime face time on MTV Networks starting this summer.  The cable channel is currently in the area shooting a new reality series entitled “Dream Date Challenge,” which producers claim is designed to “restore your belief in love by turning imagination into reality”. 
The series will feature couples enjoying some of the area’s most popular activities and attractions—including fishing, kayaking and our award-winning beaches—while they, in the words of the show’s producers, “put their hearts on the line for a chance to earn the date of their dreams.” Residents in cities like St. Pete Beach, Indian Rocks Beach, Redington Shores and Clearwater may have already spotted the film crews out and about, following couples on their dream dates as part of the show.  So far, the crews have logged 25 shooting days in the months of April and May and spent more than $500,000 in lodging and other production-related expenses.
