Visit Florida Seeing Record Web Traffic

At its monthly Internet & Advertising Committee meeting last week, Visit Florida reported that both visitation to the state and to VisitFlorida.com are on the rise.

Preliminary estimates for CY2011 indicate that 85.9 Million visitors came to Florida, up 4.4%, with strong gains internationally.

In addition to the 73.3 Million that traveled domestically and the 3.3 Million Canadians, VF reports that 9.3 Million guests came from overseas, including 1.5 Million from Brazil and 1.3 Million from the United Kingdom.

Web traffic to VisitFlorida.com reached a record high in January, with visits exceeding 841,000, a 58% increase over January 2011, and page views topping 2.1 Million. According to Quantcast’s latest update in January, Florida has moved to the top spot among DMO sites.

Site visitation in February was 44% higher than the same period for 2011, with VF’s mobile site etching a new high-mark for traffic with 126,068 visits.

VisitStPeteClearwater.com witnessed a similar surge in January, with web visits increasing 60% over January 2011. Page views were also up substantially, both compared to December and last year, up 84% and 39%, respectively.
