Tickets are still available for a Sunshine City showdown as the Marshall Thundering Herd will take on the Florida International Golden Panthers in the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl St. Petersburg tomorrow at 8 p.m. at Tropicana Field.
Both schools will compete in a Battle of the Bands today at 2:30 p.m. behind the Tradewinds Island Grand, the event’s official beach resort. A tailgate cookout on the beach, cheerleader tug o’ war and the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s eating contest will also take place that afternoon.
The party heads downtown tonight for the Bowl Block Party at Ferg’s Sports Bar & Grill. The St. Pete landmark is adjacent to the Trop and will be rockin’ with team cheerleaders, bands and football fanatics, beginning at 5 p.m.
On game day, tailgaters should make their way to the Fan Tailgate Extravaganza, featuring live music, games, contests, food and official bowl merchandise.
Fans attending the game can also check-in on the bowl’s official foursquare page, attend a social media meet up from 2 to 7 p.m. at the stadium and vie for prizes by winning the “Fan of the Game” promotion. For more on those initiatives, visit the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl Facebook page.
A free shuttle service will transport from several downtown St. Pete points to Tropicana Field, beginning at 6:30 p.m. and running until one hour after the game concludes.
Tickets for tomorrow’s games can be purchased by visiting here.
But tomorrow’s game isn’t the only college football match up scheduled for the area this bowl season.
The Georgia Bulldogs and Michigan State Spartans will square off in the Outback Bowl in Tampa on Jan. 2 – but first, they’ll do battle off the field on Clearwater Beach on Dec. 30.
Join the teams, their marching bands and cheerleaders as they enjoy the sun and beaches at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort next to Pier 60. This fun day includes live music, skydivers, a tug-of-war and other contests from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
After Beach Day, fans are invited to stick around for the nightly celebration – Sunsets at Pier 60 – which features local artisans, music and more.
For more information on both games, visit VSPC’s official bowl game page.
